MAY NEWS

Where has the year gone? It seems like just last month that I took over as President of NAWBO SEVA. It’s time to announce the slate of officers for next year, June 2007-May 2008. As in years past, all voting members must approve the slate of officers. You only need to send me an email for a NO vote. I am excited about this new board, and I know you will be too.

NAWBO Southeastern Virginia Leadership Awards

We are still soliciting input for the leadership awards. The Leadership Awards serve to honor chapter members who have contributed their time and been instrumental in growing our chapter. The awards are presented at our installation meeting in June. The awards are as follows:

Unsung Hero - This person is critical to the growth and health of the organization, but may not always be visible.

Pioneer - This person readily enters uncharted waters. With her pioneering spirit, she goes where no one has gone before.

Team Builder - This person gets others involved. She can find people to do the work and motivate them. She has the spirit that makes people want to be part of an endeavor, guiding them and sharing the credit.

Bridge Builder - This person clearly builds alliances and forms coalitions. She is involved in community outreach and is adept at pulling groups together.

Rookie of the Year - This is a new member who jumped in feet first and became a visible, enthusiastic supporter of NAWBO.

PLEASE MAKE A NOTE: Registration process to change

We will be going to a pre registration, prepay process by the July networking meeting. After looking at the time and cost involved of continuing registrations at the door, the board has voted to go to a pre registration, prepay format. Because our venue is a sit down dinner at the meetings, we pay for any meals we have reserved, even if someone doesn’t show. Paying at the door also causes a bottleneck for members trying to check in, and we run the risk of not having enough meals for people that show up, or overpaying because we guess at the number that will come. The credit card registration on the site is secure, or checks will be accepted in advance. The registration will be cut off as of 11:00am the day of the meeting. No reservations will be made after that time. Please make a note of this, and we will continue to send reminders before the meetings. Should you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at 962-7522.
