Thank you for being an active member and advocate for women business owners. Can you tell our readers why you are so passionate about the organization? No where else can you find this collection of amazing, intelligent, passionate, supportive, risk taking women. All of whom are willing to share their expertise for the benefit of others.

Based on your experience, what do you see as the most important thing a member or corporate partner can do to grow with NAWBO SEVA? Participate and push your personal limits. Share with others and ask questions.

Can you describe the key business services and solutions you provide? Since its beginning in 1987, Vanwin Coatings has been providing a broad range of high quality coatings services for Military, Industrial and Commercial applications. Aboard a Navy Ship, in an Industrial plant, or blasting, painting or powder coating in our shops, Vanwin's experience, reliability, and commitment to quality, combine to give you the best possible coating solution for your application.

Vanwin's main facility in Chesapeake, VA is capable of blasting and painting virtually any item which can be trucked to our facility. Our 18,000 square foot powder coating facility in Suffolk, VA, offers both high volume, and batch capability up to 20 ft. long. Our Outside Job crews have completed jobs from Maine to Florida and Hawaii.

In a few sentences, what makes your services unique? Professional training is critical for any Custom Coating operation. We have a full time NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) Certified Inspector, NBPI paint inspectors, a NAVSEA approved QA plan, QP-1 certification and all necessary QA inspection equipment. We are also proud members of the Steel Structures Painting Council, the Powder Coating Institute, AMMA, and the Virginia Ship Repair Association.

Which city in Hampton Roads do you call home? Norfolk

What do you like to do when you're not working? Spend time with my family and friends. Never been camping but love hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, tasting wine at Virginia vineyards and kayaking.

The last really great book you read that you'd like to recommend to NAWBO SEVA members and partners? Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell, an enjoyable easy read that gets you thinking and listening to your inner voice.

Someone you admire and why? I admire my husband for his intelligence, adaptability and willingness to take on challenges. He consistently shows that he can enter new situations and learn and master new skills. He sees what needs to be done and trains himself to get it done.
