How long have you been a NAWBO SEVA member? Beginning in 2009

Thank you for being an active member and advocate for women business owners. Can you tell our readers why you are so passionate about the organization? NAWBO is an organization that interacts with a significant base of our readers - Inside Business's goal is to operate as part of the business community, and NAWBO allows us a way to do that.

Based on your experience, what do you see as the most important thing a member or corporate partner can do to grow with NAWBO SEVA?
To be a good sounding board and member to other members. The best way to get something out of an organization is to give to it.

Can you describe the key business services and solutions you provide? Inside Business provides a news and information outlet for the business community. Through this, we are also able to provide a medium for advertisers to communicate with their target audience. Inside Business also annually organizes many recognition events (Women in Business, Top Forty Under 40 and others), as well as several education events geared toward interacting with and influencing the local business community.

In a few sentences, what makes your services unique?
nside Business is 100% local - all of our content is locally written and meant to inform local decision makers. This makes the information we provide as directly pertinent to local businesses as possible.

Which city in Hampton Roads do you call home? Virginia Beach

What do you like to do when you're not working? I like to be outdoors, so I enjoy surfing and camping.

The last really great book you read that you'd like to recommend to NAWBO SEVA members and partners? On Being Certain by Alan Burton - it talks about how we perceive being right - not only how do you know that something is true, but how do you know that you know? It's made a difference to my own decision making process, as well as how I analyze the decisions of others.

Someone you admire and why? My mom - as an immigrant to the US with two young kids, she raised us largely on her own, sometimes working 3 jobs at a time. A lot of who I am is a direct result of having a strong woman like her in my life.
